A collection of short plays as part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing.

Performances will be scheduled throughout the afternoon during the festivities presented at the Downey Space Center. If you’d like to see the plays in one sitting, you’re invited to attend our Dress Rehearsal/Preview on the night of Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm.
There will be a special evening preview performance on Wednesday July 17th from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm where all 6 of the 10-minute plays will be performed including a special post show Q&A panel moderated by current Downey Arts Coalition Board president, C Raul Espinoza. Panelists include Eric Reyes Loo, Downey born and raised professional TV writer and playwright; Claudia de Vasco, Producer of Space Flash! and current Artistic Producing Director of Chalk repertory Theatre; Ben Dickow, Executive Director of Downey’s Columbia Memorial Space Center.
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing with the Columbia Memorial Space Center and the #OneGiantLeap initiative throughout Greater Los Angeles
The Southern California celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the first moon mission will be led by the Columbia Memorial Space Center, located on the site where all of the Apollo spacecraft were designed and built.
On Friday, July 19, join NASA as the Space Center is featured in their national broadcast on NASA TV and Discovery Science. The Space Center is proud to be the West Coast hub of NASA’s Apollo commemorations. All day, special activities will be offered related to the big lunar anniversary.
The week of Apollo activities reaches a climax at the Space Center on Saturday, July 20, the actual day that astronauts landed on the moon in 1969. The Space Center invites everyone to visit for FREE and dress in their best outfit from 1969. Activities, performances and screenings of the moon landing will be happening throughout the day.
