Chalk Repertory Theatre Unveils New Real Estate Venture
with the World Premiere of Full Disclosure by Ruth McKee
Open Houses begin May 7, 2010
Los Angeles, CA, April 26, 2010 – The Ovation Award Winning Chalk Repertory Theatre explores the Los Angeles real estate market with the upcoming World Premiere production of Full Disclosure by Ruth McKee. Performances begin May 7, 2010 for a limited, four-weekend engagement in a house for sale in the Lake Balboa area of Los Angeles with additional neighborhoods to be announced.
Set up as an open house, the audience is invited into a seller’s home by Sunny, a singer-turned-realtor. As she shows off the beautiful features of the home, there are a few things she just has to disclose. Full Disclosure is a comical tragedy about the people who sell lives that they themselves cannot afford to buy.
Full Disclosure is helmed by three of Chalk Rep’s founding members: Larissa Kokernot, who recently won the Ovation Award for Best Director for her work on Chalk Rep’s site-specific production of Family Planning; Ruth McKee, who penned last fall’s Garland Nominated production of Stray, which has recently gone on to be produced in New York as a part of the Cherry Lane Theatre’s Mentor Project (mentored by David Henry Hwang); and Amy Ellenberger, who was last seen in Chalk’s summer production of The Debate Over Courtney O’Connell of Columbus Nebraska.
Performances run Friday and Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 7PM. Tickets are $25 and by reservation only. Tickets can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets via online at BrownPaperTickets.com or by calling 1-800-838-3006. The first two weekends will take place in an actual house for sale in the San Fernando Valley’s Lake Balboa area. Additional neighborhoods will be announced at a later time. In order to protect the privacy of the home hosts specific addresses will only be given at the time of purchase. Seating is extremely limited. NO LATE SEATING.
Chalk Repertory Theatre is dedicated to presenting classical and contemporary plays in unconventional spaces around Los Angeles County. The company’s inaugural 2009 season was critically acclaimed and recognized with two Ovation Awards for the production of Family Planning. Other past productions include Three Sisters and Twelfth Night at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the west coast premiere of The Debate over Courtney O’Connell of Columbus, Nebraska by Mat Smart, and the Garland Nominated, World Premiere of Stray by Ruth McKee.
