Chalk Rep's Founding Mothers: Jennifer Chang, Ruth McKee, Hilary Ward, Larissa Kokernot and

 Amy Ellenberger

Chalk Repertory Theatre was founded in the fall of 2008 by five graduates of the MFA Theatre program at the University of California, San Diego, who were living and working in Los Angeles. Larissa and Amy had allready collaborated on a site-specific production of Julia Edwards' Family Planning. Jennifer had the inspiration to put together a production of Chekhov's Three Sisters in the Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and to do a site-specific production of Ruth's play Stray. Hilary wanted in on the action as well, and so the five women decided to pool their efforts, and the company was born.
